"Gotham" season 2 premiere episode has gone down and just like what was advertised, it introduced the audience to a new gallery of villains.
Ben McKenzie's Detective James Gordon will have his hands full this season as other than the Penguin, the city will be swarmed by new bad guys.
What was seen in "Gotham" season 2 episode 1 was just the introduction. As the season progresses, more and more enemies are coming, This might likely include one famous underground criminal group in Batman mythology - the Court of Owls.
James Frain's Theo Galavan debut in the season two premiere and long before that, he already told media that his character is out for a revenge and that his family has been in Gotham for so long. This statement made fans speculate that maybe his family is part of the Court of Owls.
Comicbook.com's Lucas Siegel talked to series creator Bruno Heller after the airing of "Gotham" season 2 episode one and asked if Court of Owls will happen in his Fox TV series. His answer will make fans jump for excitement.
"Yeah, absolutely, [I'm interested]. I won't say that it's part of - I don't even want to say that, because I don't want to spoil part of the story," Heller said
"The Court of Owls is deep, deep, deep Gotham mythology. The comic book fans know about it, but I would suspect the larger audience is not so familiar. We sometimes have to make a distinction between the 'Nolan-era Batman movie fans' and the comic book fans. It's not that they're two separate audiences, just that there are two levels of engagement. Court of Owls is very much deep DC mythology."
He insisted though that they will get into Court of Owls storyline a bit slower.
"We are absolutely going to explore that world down the line. Looking at the longevity of the show, we have to hold some cards back, we can't just throw all of the elements, all of the story at once," he explained.
"The long arc of the show is Bruce Wayne's journey of discovery down into the depths of the physical and meta-physical world of Gotham. The Court of Owls is a brilliant conceit that will absolutely be part of our storytelling. I just won't tell you when."
"Gotham" season 2 episode two is called "Rise of the Villains: Knock, Knock." Read synopsis here.
