A new cast has been selected for "Dancing With the Stars".
According to ABC News' "Good Morning America", 11 individuals are slated to appear on the show's 17th season, which premieres Sept. 23.
The shows new members include actors wanting to make a comeback, and a story of inspiration in actress Valerie Harper from the "Mary Tyler Moore Show".
Harper was diaganosed with a rare form of terminal cancer which would have shortened her life had it not been for a previous test result showing the cancer. Harper's cancer is currently in remission. The actress was also given the OK by doctors to dance in the competition.
"The brain scans you get every two months are looking better and better and better," Harper told "Good Morning America," The Post reported. Harper said doctors were "delighted" she was moving along in the right direction.
Actress Leah Remini, Elizabeth Berkley from "Saved by the Bell" and "Showgirls," Reality star Jack Osbourne whose sister Kelly was a previous contestant on the show, Snooki from the "Jersey Shore", and stars from the Disney family including "Pretty Little Liars" actor Brant Daugherty, and former "High School Musical" singer and dancer Corbin Bleu will also compete.
Children's television host Bill Nye the Science Guy, former National Football League wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson, actress, singer, and songwriter Christina Milian, "Glee" actress and singer Amber Riley, and comedian Bill Engvall, will also appear along with professional dance partners: Sasha Farber, Tristan MacManus, Sharna Burgess, Peta Murgatroyd, Mark Ballas, Tyne Stecklein, Val Cherkovskiy, Karina Smirnoff, Derek Hough, Emma Slater, Cheryl Burke, and Tony Dovolani.
Nye told "Good Morning America" he might have an edge when competing because of his science experience.
"(Dancing is) all physics," he said. "It's all the study of motion."
