"Gotham" season 2 episode one went down and that saw the start of Penguin's job as the king of the underground.
Robin Lord Taylor's character is now the king of Gotham's criminal world after ousting Fish Mooney, Carmine Falcone, and Don Salvatore Maroni - the triumvirate of the mob world.
The first episode clearly showed who is in command. With the help of new henchman Victor Zsasz, Oswald Cobblepot easily gets what he wants whenever or wherever he covets for them.
That is not the full form of the Penguin though and just like fans, Taylor is excited to see it unfold.
"I'm really excited about that, too because in terms of the monocle if you look at the comics, it's an actual physical injury he receives," Taylor told Newsarama shortly after airing of "Gotham" season 2 episode one.
"I don't know if we're approaching that this season, because I only know a couple of episodes in advance before we start shooting, but it's something I would love to keep exploring."
Taylor also assured that fans will see the Penguin the way they see him in the comics.
"Oh, definitely," Taylor replied. "One of the things I'm most excited about this season is his continuing relationship with Jim Gordon. Jim has to save the monster he had a hand in creating. Jim is coming to realize that he needs Oswald as much as Oswald needs Jim. Tension between the two of them is really exciting and for Oswald it's very satisfying to see Jim have to need him."
Before everything that though, he has to work hard to retain his title as the following "Gotham" season 2 episodes will be about the arrival of new villains that include Theo Galavan, Dr. Freeze, Mad Hatter, Tigress, and more. He also has form alliance with James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) who is now owes him a favor after he did for him in "Gotham" season 2 episode one.
