Amir Khan To Try MMA? British Boxer Also Talks About Next Fight And Manny Pacquiao

| By

Who will be the man in the opposite side of Amir Khan's next fight? Right now nothing is certain yet but his camp is assuring it will be a big one.

With Floyd Mayweather Jr officially retired after beating a bitter Andre Berto, he is more likely to face Manny Pacquiao.

As of today, Amir Khan is in the boxing arena but don't be surprised if the British boxer gets spotted in the mixed martial arts octagon.

The former Olympian, who is a part-time owner of international MMA promotion firm Super Fight League, said he can see himself getting it on with the world's best mixed martial arts fighter. In fact, he sees himself as a good combatant in the pro octagon.

"One day, I may put the MMA gloves on and compete," Khan said in an interview with News Day.

"I think with my style and the size of the gloves, I can take care of a lot of the elite fighters in MMA. I think I could bang them out. I will have to learn a lot. One thing I've never done is kick. I would have to learn how to grapple. But if you put me against an elite MMA fighter, I think I can take him out. They are not trained to take the same kind of punches. Imagine Mike Tyson hitting you clean, you are going to sleep."

Amir Khan was also asked about his next gig in the boxing ring and he said he is hopeful to fight Manny Pacquiao who last fought Mayweather Jr. and lost.

"Hopefully a Manny Pacquiao fight," he said.

"A Pacquiao fight is something I would love to have. I think it can happen. That would be a huge fight. With his fan base and my fan base, that's a huge international fight. Obviously we both want to fight, right now it's up to the promoters."

Khan first talked about the possibility of fighting his former sparring mate in an interview with Sky Sports wherein he said discussions are already moving forward.
