Blake Lively had recently shared a photo of herself and a few others, including John Mayer on Instagram, mentioning Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" song in what many suspect is her way of throwing shade at the singer.
The photo that Lively posted was a campaign for ad for L'Oreal Color Riche lipstick collection.
"Soooo, turns out this WASN'T a video shoot for John Legend's cover of Bad Blood," the "Gossip Girl" star wrote.
"@lorealparisofficial blew it out for this one. My #pinkobsession is exposed now. Ok your turn. I won't tell! #AlsoTurnsOutJohnLegendIsntCoveringBadBlood Time to start a petition!"
Although Lively's Instagram post seemed a harmless invitation for John Legend to cover Taylor Swift's song, "Bad Blood," some fans of the singer have allegedly taken it the wrong way and misinterpreted the photo caption as criticism for Swift.
Following the reaction of Taylor Swift's fans, Blake Lively quickly defended her photo caption.
"Umm whoever thought I was throwin' shade clearly doesn't know I have a 'Taylor Swift Please Be My Wife Voo Doo Doll,'" she wrote, along with a photo of her husband's (Ryan Reynolds) niece and the "Blank Space" singer.
"Look how rad she is here making my niece Heather feel like a rock star," Lively wrote, as reported by People Magazine. Love my Canadian family almost as much as I love Taylor Lively. I mean Swift. Ok, FIIINE we can hyphenate our last names. Xo Blake Swift-Lively 4eva."
Aside from Blake Lively, the ad featured John Legend (the only man in the photo), Naomi Watts, Julianne Moore, Eva Longoria, Karlie Kloss, Amber Heard, Doutzen Kroes, Liya Kebede, Fan Bingbing, Aishwarya Rai and Jane Fonda - all dressed in pink.
