Looks like Los Angeles Lakers are bulking up their back court. That is if the latest NBA trade rumor is true.
According to a tweet by Michael Scotto of Sheridan Hoops, the Gold and Purple franchise are looking for a way to sign former Oklahoma City Thunder guard and current Xinjiang Flying Tigers star Sebastian Telfair.
"Los Angeles Lakers expressed interest in point guard Sebastian Telfair, league sources tell Sheridan Hoops. However, nothing is imminent," Scotto wrote a few days ago.
This is just a premature NBA trade rumor and nothing is concrete yet. If ever this pushes through, the 30-year, 2004 13th overall draft pick will join a young front court rotation that includes D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, and Lou Williams.
This NBA trade rumor does not sit well with Lakers fans but a basketball analyst thinks Sebastial Telfair going to Los Angeles Lakers will not be that bad.
"In fairness, this is just one of (probably) many possibilities that the organization is discussing behind closed doors," Michael Saenz wrote for Sir Charles in Charge.
"Though, I would think that the Lakers could go another route that would offer much more of a possibility in the way of reward than what Telfair could."
However, he did insist that it will be hard for Telfair to find his spot in the Los Angeles Lakers squad.
"Simply looking at the depth chart, there isn't much room for a player like Telfair on their roster. I get that the Lakers have to round out their training camp roster somehow, but wouldn't it make more sense to take a chance on either a tweener (guard/forward), or even another big man?
Not entirely sure what the thinking would be in inviting Telfair to training camp, but I'm sure that there's no room on the Lakers roster for his services."
Will this NBA trade rumor consummate? Find out in the coming days.
