When "Scandal" season 5 release date arrives, the show will feature a happier Olitz.
Spoilers from two month s ago revealed Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and Pres. Fitz Grant (Tony Goldwyn) are back in each other's arms and looks like they are ready to go beyond that.
A few weeks ago, showrunner Shonda Rhimes said the idea of a divorced president intrigues her. Looks like that is not the only thing Olitz shippers can expect once "Scandal" season 5 release date takes place. Goldwyn said Fitz already knows what to do once they decide to go public with their 'forbidden' relationship.
"We live in a modern world, and it's the hiding and the lies and the equivocating and the agendas that get people into trouble," the actor told Entertainment Weekly.
"Fitz, for a couple of years now, has been operating under the opinion that if they just told the truth and put it out there ... I think he believes in what they have, but it's been thwarted every time. I don't think he underestimates the gravity and impact of it."
Rhimes' interest on divorce storyline between President Fitz Grant and First Lady Mellie (Bellamy Young) was first brought up by TV Line's Matt Webb Mitovich last month.
During a press tour in which Mitovich was present, Rhimes was asked if the divorce card will be used in season five. The acclaimed showrunner was hesitant at first but seems to have changed her mind later.
"Make of this what you will: During ABC's "TGIT" press tour panel, I asked Rhimes if she had "any interest in" - not whether she was planning on - writing a storyline about "Olivia Pope as First Lady", and she flatly responded, "We don't comment on future storylines." Hmmph. But later during a 1-on-1 at ABC's party, without hundreds of press members staring her down, the uberproducer allowed that the "concept is intriguing. That's all I'll say."" TV Line's answer to a fan's request for a "Scandal" season 5 spoiler.
