Korn is actively gearing up for their new album!
And the followup to the 2013 "The Paradigm Shift" will reportedly bring back what used to be classified as heavy metal sound.
Talking to Pop Break guitarists Brian "Head" Welch and James "Munky" Shaffer have gamely talked about the details of their new album.
Apparently, Korn's new record will feature tracks that is full of "dirtier" riffs as they make sure that the "melodic elements" from their previous album will remain in tact.
"Keep the melodic elements of what we captured on the last record but really expand on the heavy riffs and get a bit dirtier," Shaffer revealed. "Maybe a little longer songs with longer intros, and a little more math rock, not prog-rocky but maybe some slower tempoed grooves that are 7/8 or 3/4 timing and stuff like that."
And while Korn claimed that their new album is going to be different, Munky compared themselves from other bands who continuously claim that every album is different from the other.
"It's about taking chances and going out on a limb," he added. "You hear a lot of bands say how every album is a chance to reinvent yourself. For us, I really feel like we've gone out on a f-ing plank because sometimes there's no turning back. You have to commit to it and sometimes it's like 'Eh, I don't know,' and you kind of let go and see what happens."
And in line with their new album, Korn is said to be performing a mini tour in October to perform their self-titled debut album which was released back in 1994.
Munky told Rolling Stone that he's very much excited for their tour as they celebrate their debut's 20th anniversary.
"We were all sitting in the car, listening to one of the rough mixes [of the whole album], and I just remember all of us like getting goosebumps," Munky previously said of the album. "We called it 'the Watch,' 'cause you kinda look at your arm and you look like you're looking at a watch. We all had goosebumps."
