'Arrow' Star Stephen Amell Takes Break From Twitter After Controversial Comment About Ahmed

| By

Stephen Amell's Twitter account, as well as Facebook, is one of the most productive and most active among celebrities. The "Arrow" star does not only use his Twitter to reach out to fans but also to raise funds for those who are in need.

However, on Thursday, it seems Stephen Amell's Twitter usage went wrong. He probably realized this and so, he decided to take a break from social media.

This decision of his stems from a comment he made about Texas and its police force's controversial arrest of 14-year old kid Ahmed Mohamed for bringing a homemade bomb to school.

The kid, a science enthusiast, said he only brought a clock he he himself built to impress his teachers. His family believes he was arrested because of his Muslim roots. He was let go after the arrest but people all over the world, including the most influential ones, throw support for him.

"Stereotyping Texas isn't any better than stereotyping Ahmed. Just so we're clear," reads Stephen Amell's Twitter post.

However, this did not sit well with some internet people. On his Facebook account, he insisted he does not mean to offend anyone and that he will be out of social media for a while because of the outrage.

"Wasn't trying to equate things that are very, very different," he said in the video. "Was simply trying to say that two wrongs don't make a right."

"The best thing to do in these scenarios is just go away for a little bit. So be well. I'll be back. And that's it."

Didn't mean to offend anyone. Truthfully. Was simply suggesting that two wrongs don't make a right. I'll go away for a bit now. SA

Before Stephen Amell's Facebook video post, he explained his first post which he said he would not delete or
apologize for.

"What happened to Ahmed was terrible. Obviously," he wrote.

"I happened to read a series of tweets pronouncing that this is a systemic problem in Texas, which is also profiling," he wrote. "It's profiling in a much less hurtful / destructive way... but it is profiling. Anywho, I'm not apologizing or deleting the tweets. If you're outraged at an opinion it's because you're bored."

Is Stephen Amell right about his post or are internet people just overreacting.? He will be away but good thing his Oliver Queen is returning. "Arrow" season 4 release date is Oct. 7.
