Who will be the man in the other side in Manny Pacquiao's next fight? It has been four months since he last stepped on the boxing ring.
He fought number one adversary Floyd Mayweather Jr. last month and lost. Usually, the eight-division world champ fights twice in a year but this year will be different.
Manny Pacquiao's next fight will happen next year and he confirmed this himself in an interview with Associated Press reporter Oliver Teves. He said he prolonged his rest for his injured shoulder which he got a night before fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr.
"Boxing is not my focus because I can only fight next year, to give my shoulder a rest," he said.
Pacquiao did confirm he will be back and one of those they are eyeing is former sparring mate Amir Khan. The British boxer first mentioned the probable fight with Pacquiao in an interview with Sky Sports.
"We are working on that fight, we are speaking to [Pacquiao's promoter] Bob Arum and his team and I think if that is going to happen, it will happen early next year," Khan told SkySports a couple of days ago.
"It's a good fight for me. We know each other quite well, we've done up to 100 rounds of sparring. I used to train with Freddie Roach before so it makes a good story line as well. But I think it is a good time to catch Manny Pacquiao now, I think it would be a huge fight, I don't know where it's going to be yet but we are talking terms and negotiating if we can make the fight happen."
Aside from Manny Pacquiao next fight, the interview also touched on the possible rematch with the last man who beat the Filipino boxer.
Floyd Mayweather Jr - Manny Pacquiao rematch was one of the hottest discussion shortly after their fight. Floyd previously agreed but then took it back after hearing Pacman's excuse for the loss. Those talks can die now as Floyd has already retired and Pacman is accepting his nemesis' decision.
"Whether there is a second (bout with Mayweather), it's not a problem. I heard he has retired, so it doesn't matter," Manny Pacquiao said.
Pacman did not end the interview though without throwing a jab at Floyd Mayweather Jr. Pacman said he will not take on any other fighter "because I do not choose my opponents" a swipe on Floyd who is infamous for being picky with his battles.
