When "Arrow" season 4 release date arrives, it will be a different Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) people will meet.
She is not only the girlfriend of Starling City hero Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell). She is now a billionaire.
"She's no longer just the IT girl or Vice President under Palmer," executive producer Wendy Mericle previews with TV Line.
"She's the full-blown CEO, and it's an opportunity to really see that character grow up and be challenged in ways we haven't seen before."
"Arrow" season 4 release date is on October 7 and when that day arrives, Felicity Smoak will have a more active role in Team Arrow.
Not only because she is now Oliver's official girlfriend but also because she will return to her former job as the resident tech genius of the group.
In another "Arrow" season 4 spoiler, Mericle said Katie Cassidy's Laurel Lance, who has now grown into a full blown Black Canary, will be a lot busier this season and she will have no time for her love life.
"I think there's some virtue in having a female character on the show who's not necessarily involved with a man," the EP said.
"She has a lot of business to deal with in terms of her sister [Sara] and also finding a new relationship with Oliver now that Felicity is in the picture.... It's more [about] her finding her place on the team."
Team Arrow better have full focus. When "Arrow" season 4 date comes, the threat is already established in Star City. Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), described as the prince of darkness by show's executive producers, has already spent three months in the city before Oliver Queen returns.
"We're gonna learn that this villain has been operating in town for the past three months," Guggenheim told Entertainment Weekly.
"Team Arrow has basically been trying to keep [him] at bay, but then something happens in the season premiere that's the straw that breaks the camel's back and it prompts Laurel [Katie Cassidy] and Thea [Willa Holland] to go find Oliver and get him to return."
