Singer John Legend, known for his chart-toppers "All of Me, "Ordinary People" and other heart-wrenching ballads and his wife, model Chrissy Teigen, may appear to have a perfect married life.
But behind closed doors, the couple is reportedly struggling to have children.
In a recent interview with Tyra Banks, Chrissy Teigen opened up about John Legend having gone through a "process" in order for them to have a baby.
''John and I were having trouble," Teigen admitted. "We would have had kids five, six years ago if it had happened. But my gosh, it's been a process.''
The 29-year-old model also said that she was surprised at the "shame" felt by some couples who are experiencing the same problems she and her husband are having.
"We've seen fertility doctors and once you open up about those things to other people you learn that a lot of other people in your life are seeing these people and they have this shame about it," Teigen said.
Teigen and the "All Of Me" singer got married two years ago and since then, John Legend and the model have been constantly asked why they don't have kids yet.
"It's kind of crazy because I can't imagine being that nosy to be like, 'So, when are the kids coming?' because who knows what somebody's going through," Chrissy said.
"So anytime somebody asks if I'm going to have kids I'm just like, 'One day you're going to ask that to the wrong girl who is really struggling and it's going to be really hurtful to them and I hate that. Stop asking me,'" the model added.
Last month, Teigen and Legend were rumored to be on the verge of a divorce due to their marriage troubles.
"John would come on set and talk down to Chrissy. It's messed up because she's such a happy person. I hated watching him treat her like that," a source for Media Take Out reported.
"He thinks she's annoying and I sense that he might secretly have disdain for her. I don't know why he would marry her -- if he felt that much animosity towards her," the source added. "I'd be shocked if they were together by the New Year."
A few months ago, Teigen revealed she and Legend want lots of kids "soon."
"We love kids. I picture us with three or four. John and I go hard in everything we do," she said to People Magazine. "And we like a bit of chaos."
