She may be singing and dancing as Belle in Disney's live action adaptation of "Beauty And The Beast" but Emma Watson's "Colonia" trailer shows her as a desperate wife looking to save her husband.
The "Harry Potter" star takes on a more mature role as Lena in the newest thriller set in Chile during dictator Augusto Pinochet's rule in the 1970s.
According to The Daily Mail, Lena and her husband, Daniel, (Daniel Bruhl) became entangled in a military group against the Chilean dictator in the film. Daniel is then abducted by the tyrant's secret police, National Intelligence Directorate (DINA), taking him away from his wife.
Desperate to "get her man back" she does everything to look for Daniel, even joining a cult.
In her search, she enters the religious and agricultural cult called Colonia Dignidad.
"I can see doubts, turmoil in your soul," cult leader Paul Schäfer (Michael Nyqvist) can be heard telling Emma Watson in the "Colonia" trailer. "Oh, you think you made a mistake, that you shouldn't have come here. You regret, you regret deeply."
Colonia Dignidad is reportedly a site where all those kidnapped by DINA are brought to be tortured. Digital Trends believed that Watson's entry into the religious group would entail physical pain for the actress.
In fact, the "Noah" star previously admitted to Daily Mail in August that Lena was the most challenging role she had ever done.
"It's the hardest part I've ever had to play," she revealed. "But also the most satisfying. It felt like the right thing to do."
The film, which is directed by Oscar-winning director Florian Gallenberger, is yet to be confirmed. However, it will reportedly be aired in Germany in January 2016.
The "Perks Of Being A Wallflower" star is currently working on another thriller, "The Circle," opposite Tom Hanks.
