Nina Dobrev Ditches 'Vampire Diaries' Season 7 For 'The Notebook' Series? Ian Somerhalder Affected?

| By

Fans went crazy went reports of Nina Dobre returning for "Vampire Diaries" season 7 came out.

Apparenlty, her ex-boyfriend and on-screen partner in the hit vampire-themed series, Ian Somerharlder, teased fans of Elena Gilbert's return to Mystic Falls.

Somerhalder exclusively dished out the news in his interview with Melty, claiming that fans will "indeed be seeing Elena again."

"She's not dead," the actor explained in the report. "In 70 years or however long Bonnie lives, Elena will resurface at some point, although we'll be very old when that happens."

Without giving out more details Ian Somerhalder said in the interview that the cast and crew are excited to go back for "Vampire Diaries" season 7 despite the exit of Nina Dobrev.

"We're actually very excited about telling this story," the actor explained. "The way it was done was great. The way it was done was actually incredible, because it allows people to know that she's still there."

Furthermore, Dobrev seemed to have been hinting her return as well when she posted an cryptic message on her Instagram account saying, "Fasten your seatbelts. If you think you know what's coming, you don't."

However, with all the talks of Nina Dobrev returning to "Vampire Diaries" season 7, there's a new update claiming that the 26-year-old Bulgarian Canadian actress has instead ditched the series for a new series.

But what could be better than "Vampire Diaries"?

Apparently, the Nicholas Sparks' best-selling novel, which was adapted to movie starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams in 2004 titled "The Notebook," will also be adapted to a series with Sparks being the executive director, E! Online reported.

While Dobrev's casting is not yet official, Pop Sugar has included Nina in the list of "The Notebook TV Show: 31 Casting Choices For Noah and Allie" by Maggie Pehanick.

"Now that Dobrev has exited The Vampire Diaries, she may be looking for a new role! OK, probably not on another drama on The CW, but a girl (me) can dream," Pehanick wrote.

If Nina Dobrev would not return to "Vampire Diaries" season 7, it's not impossible for her to land the role of Allie in the planned "The Notebook" series given that CW execs previously expressed their desire to work with Dobrev again.

"We would have loved Nina to stay," CW president Mike Pedowitz previously said, as quoted by People. "She did a great job for the six years she was on the show. She is welcome back any time she wants to come back."
