People will see Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) in completely different situations once new "Suits" season 5 episodes start rolling.
The events in the mid-season finale set them up into undesirable circumstances to be seen in the six remaining episodes.
Mike Ross was arrested in the last "Suits" season 5 episode for fraud. He is not a real lawyer as viewers know. His lie caught up with him and it is not just him who will be affected by it.
What state will fans see Mike Ross when the show returns? How long has he been in jail if ever he gets proven guilty?
Showrunner Aaron Korsh said the impact of the arrest is broad. However, he has no concrete plan yet on where things will pick up once "Suits" season 5 returns.
"We wrestled with that quite a bit, whether to jump forward six months, two years or a few weeks. And it turns out we landed on where we usually land (but not always), which is where we pick up pretty much right away," Korsh told the Hollywood Reporter shortly after the airing of the latest "Suits" season 5 episode.
Harvey Spectre was contemplating resignation from Pearson-Specter-Litt law firm in the last episode. However, Korsh said he might change his mind with what just went down.
"Once Mike gets arrested every single thing that happens in the episode before that minute is up for grabs. It's to be reconsidered," he said.
Adding, "Harvey may have just resigned, but he's going to question whether he should still go forward with that in light of this new thing. Mike just resigned. He may or may not question whether he should still do that in light of this thing. Everything that has happened up until this moment - once Mike gets arrested, it's like you're circling the wagons and figuring out what's the next order of business. Previous decisions are back on the table to be revisited. And not just in [episode] 511, but I would say the back six in general."
There is no release date yet for "Suits" season 5 episode 11.
