'Thundercats' Live-action Movie To Push Through After Eddie Redmayne Expressed His Desire To Star In The Film?

| By

There have been rumors that Michael Bay will direct a "Thundercats" live-action movie.

And while such report is clearly a rumor and should be taken with a large grain of salt, the idea of having the "Thundercats" adapted to the big screen is not impossible, knowing how many classic cartoons have made it to theaters.

Now, big names in Hollywood are reportedly vying for a role to the movie that hasn't even been confirmed.

In fact, "The Theory of Everything" star Eddie Redmayne has already expressed his interest to take on a role for a "Thundercats" live-action movie.

Redmayne admitted to Yahoo! News that he has every intention of getting involved in the film and he even revealed what character he would like to portray.

"Please, I'm desperate to do Bananaman," Redmayne said. "Bananaman is this great guy who eats a banana, and he becomes Bananaman. He's the one that I've always wanted to play, to the extent that Andrew Garfield - an old pal - was asked in an interview, 'If you could play any superhero other than Spider-Man, who would you play?' And he was thinking about it, and the interviewer was like, 'Bananaman?' And Andrew was like, 'No, Eddie's playing that.'"

"I'd like to play Snarf," he said.

Total Film on the other hand, reported that "X-Men Days of Future Past" star James McAvoy has also expressed his intentions to join "Thundercats" live-action movie if it indeed gets to move forward.

"I would love to see a Thundercats movie but it's never going to happen," McAvoy admitted in an interview, which can be viewed here. "Lion-O is something great for any actor out there"

McAvoy also acknoledged the fan made trailer for "Thundercats" with Hugh Jackman, Vin Diesel and Brad Pitt on it.

"There is a great trailer for Thundercats where they took Brad Pitt and made him Lion-O, Hugh Jackman as Tygra and Vin Diesel as Panthro," the 35-year-old actor said.

Variety previously reported that award-wining video game director Jerry O'Flaherty is actually in talks to helm the planned "Thundercats" live-action movie adaptation under Warner Bros.

"It feels like a natural thing for me to step into," O'Faherty said of the "Thundercats" project. "Games have come so far now. The last four years of my life have been about bringing the energy of filmmaking into the videogame experience."

If things goes out as planned, fans could possibly get to see Eddie Redmayne and James McAvoy in one movie.

If "Thundercats" live-action movie does indeed make it the big screen it will follow popular cartoons like, "G.I. Joe," "Transformers" and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
