Steven Weigel joins Friendly's Ice Cream as its new executive vice president and chief operating officer according to the company's website.
"I am so pleased Steve has joined Friendly's," president and chief executive officer John Maguire said in a statement on the company's website. "His focus and past success on increasing sales and improving guest service will serve Friendly's well. Steve's experience in casual dining will be extremely helpful to us as we continue to reposition our brand."
Weigel comes from Tom's Urban 24 where he was in charge of the company's strategy, marketing its brand, deciding on market opportunities, helping to raising market shares, and setting the tone for procedures about how the company handles its operating systems to bring in more revenue, and improve the chains market opportunities the company's website said.
Before joining Urban 24, Weigel served as senior vice president of Smashburger in Denver, CO where he supervised how each of the restaurant's franchises operated.
Weigel also has Darden Restaurants Inc.,Red Lobster on his resume of over 20 years of experience where he led goals to develop sales and handle money effectively while helping to strengthen the company's brand the Friendly's website said. He did this by building a good team to operate the franchise restaurant chain that changed the basic way Red Lobster operates, and its design, the company said on its website.
Weigel is a graduate of Florida State University, and will move to Massachusetts with his family the company said on its website.
Friendly's Ice Cream also serves sandwiches, and burgers. According to it's website, the company's sales number total more than than $550 million. These come from the chain's more than 7,500 locations.
The company future goals include introducing new food and ice cream products, renovate the buildings on their properties, and how the company distributes their information.
