Eversince "Divergent" was released in theaters, the on-screen chemistry between Theo James and Shailene Woodley has sent fans to outer space.
And while they maintained friends following the movie, fans are vocal in wanting them to become an off-screen item as well, just like Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in "Twilight" or "Vampire Diaries'" Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev.
However, the 30-year-old English actor and the 23-year-old American actress insisted that they are just friends. In fact, they are rumored to be involved with other people, James with Ruth Kearney and Woodley with Nahko Bear.
But in his interview with MTV, James had his and Shailene Woodley's fans at the edge of their seats when he admitted that he enjoyed doing kissing scenes with his "Divergent" co-star.
"I just went at it hard, to be honest, because I thought that's how she wanted it. I thought to assuage any awkwardness I would just go for it. She was kind of batting away my hands," he confessed.
While Woodley reportedly felt awkward, their chemistry was strongly shown in the movies, which caused fans wanting the reel turn to real.
And in a report from Venture Capital Post, Theo James said to have admitted to wanting to do more films with Shailene Woodley.
"while filming continues for the much anticipated 3rd movie of the Divergent series, Theo James has revealed that he wants to be able to work with actress Shailene Woodley even after they finish with the series."
And in a previous interview with Screen Crave, James shared how their characters, Tris and Four "gravitate towards" each other.
"I think she's fascinated by him, but also doesn't understand his motivations," James revealed of Shailene Woodley's character.
"He seems to be very cold and momentarily hot. That is something that a lot of relationships gravitate towards. He sees in her something unique and dynamic in a world where he sees lots of people coming through the system. Inherently I think it's an interesting relationship because it's not based on lots of swooning. It's essentially two people who respect each other and he really respects her. He sees that she's completely selfless but also strong. And she sees his rippling abs [Laughs]."
Theo James even revealed that he wanted to practice the kissing scenes with Shailene Woodley over and over again.
"With Shai, as much as possible I just wanted to practice the kissing scene," he laughingly said.
Adding "No, but in a real way, we wanted that to be as good as possible. We wanted it to be good and for it to fulfill the things it needed to fulfill, but to be real and not cheesy. We actually shot that a second time cause the first time didn't feel quite right. Hopefully it's earned cause there's not a lot of batting eyelashes or fawning in the film. It's kind of a tough, intricate and complex relationship. When they eventually kiss, I hope it's genuine."
