Following confirmation from voice actor Nolan North that Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us" movie is pushing through, new details as to who will star in the film emerge.
While "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams has become the fan favorite, there still no confirmation to her casting.
However, in an interview with Screen Rant, Williams expressed how she badly wants to star as Ellie in Naughty Dog's upcoming "The Last of Us" movie adaptation.
"Honestly I would love to and I think they would love me to play Ellie also, and that's where it is at the moment," she explained. "There's no script, no director, it's still very early days for the whole project, but if it all goes ahead soon enough I think, yeah, I would love to."
In fact, Maisie Williams previously revealed that she already met with the movie executives for "The Last of Us" adaptation.
"I had a lunch a little while ago and we spoke about the possibility of me playing Ellie and that's really exciting and I would absolutely love to," Williams previously admitted. "They announced at Comic-Con that we had spoken about it, and since then in like every interview people have been asking me about it."
However, Williams' possible appearance in "The Last of Us" movie is still nowhere near since Naughty Dog is still reportedly very busy with "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" game.
Neil Druckmann told Slash Film that he has infact said that he's thinking about the movie but needs to work with "Uncharted 4" still.
"When I'm in the office it's all Uncharted 4 all the time," he said. "When I should be sleeping, it's the [Last of Us] movie."
And while he hasn't reveal more details yet, Druckmann confirmed that there are already a number of actors shortlisted for the role of Ellie and Joel.
"I just finished the second draft and we did a table read with a bunch of actors and that's where we're at."
Digital Spy added that "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams is going to portray the role of Ellie, while a number of stars including Dylan McDermott, Hugh Jackman and Gerard Butler are reportedly being eyed to play the role of Joel.
"It was announced sort of prematurely almost in that I would love to play Ellie, they would love me to play Ellie," she said. "There's no film happening at this very second, so I cannot play Ellie right at this very minute. But when that comes around - if and when that comes around - I'll be here."
