Kirk Hammett Admits To Having Problems With The New Album Of Metallica

| By

While fans are excited to hear new music from Metallica, it seemed like the American heavy metal band will not get to release their new album anytime soon.

Following their successful 2008 LP, "Death Magnetic," Metallica remained quite in the shadows.

And now that new album reports have become rampant, guitarist Kirk Hammet admitted to Loud Wire that they are still getting a hang of the new recording process.

"A lot of times, we don't know where it's going, and we just kind of have to just keep it on the road and see where it takes us," Hammett confessed. "And, at this point, we're still on that road and we're wondering where it's gonna take us."

And for them to progress better in making a new Metallica album, Hammett explained that the band has been wanting to take a break from doing shows and performances.

"Okay, the last [U.S.] show we played before this was in Las Vegas, in whenever it was, April or June, something like that," Hammett explained.

"And it seems like we might not be doing anything in between that show and this show, but what we are doing is we are in the studio, we're recording, we're working on music. And when we're in the process of making an album, we're in for, like, weeks at a time doing exactly that. And so, when it gets closer to the actual gig time, that's when we start rehearsing the tunes that we're gonna be playing. And so, for us, it's just another date on the calendar, and we are active throughout that whole period."

But while the new album seems to be in the early stages of development, drummer Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone that the band is trying to find new ways to offer something better to the fans.

"In our world, there's been a distinct difference between the creative phase and the recording phase," Ulrich said. "With this project, we're trying to bridge the two a little more organically and not have there be such a great divide between the processes. We want to see if we can bring some of the creative curiosity, the impulsive stuff that happens when you're first playing a song into the studio."
