After everything Jane went through in the first season, she ended up losing the son she carried in her belly for nine months when Sin Rostro took him in the finale.
Thankfully, she won't be worrying entirely about Mateo's disappearance in the whole "Jane The Virgin" season 2.
According to executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman, Jane and Rafael will get their son right when the season begins again this fall. The question is, how early on?
Based on the recent reports, it's most likely that Mateo will either be found or returned to his mother very early on in the season - perhaps even on the very first episode.
"The missing baby is an early development but they get the baby back," Urman previously said, adding that Jane will get "the baby back pretty quickly, but it sets other things in motion, what happened in that last scene. That is all part of the DNA of the second season."
Furthermore, there was also a small hint about the timeline of Mateo's return in his mother's arms when Kesha was recently announced as an addition to the cast.
According to E! News, the "Tik Tok" hitmaker will be playing Annabelle, Jane's rocker neighbour. She also won't be a big fan of Jane's "newest infant roommate."
The news site further revealed that Kesha will be appearing in episode two of "Jane The Virgin" season 2, hinting that Mateo could very well be back in his parent's embrace as early as the first ever episode.
Meanwhile, Gina Rodriguez, who plays the titular Jane, shared an adorable photo of her onscreen son on Instagram.
"On set with baby Mateo like...just hang here in between takes baby," she captioned the snap.
