Metta World Peace's Los Angeles Lakers return is almost done. Yahoo Sports revealed the one-time NBA champ has been with the California-based team since July and is now close to a one-year deal.
Yahoo Sports also reported the controversial NBA star will join Los Angeles Lakers training camp at the end of this month.
"World Peace, 35, started participating in informal workouts with Lakers players this week at the team's facility in El Segundo, Calif., and is expected to continue through the start of Lakers training camp later this month, league sources said," Yahoo wrote citing league sources.
"No deal has been agreed upon, but there's an increasing expectation that will happen this month."
The report added that he is working with big man Julius Randle who certainly needs the guidance of an NBA veteran as he enters a season where he will play a more important role.
A few hours after news of Metta World Peace's Los Angeles Lakers return came out last month, he told TMZ Sports he is open to playing again for the team that gave him his one and only NBA championship ring.
"Basketball is an easy sport, and a lot of the professionals, they're ok; they nothing special," World Peace said when asked by reporter if he can still play.
Metta World Peace left Los Angeles Lakers in 2013 and moved to New York Knick. He did not complete his season there and signed with CBA's Sichuan Blue Whales. His last team was Pallacanestro Cantù in Italy.
