Actress Katherine Heigl, the former Dr. "Izzie" Stevens on ABC's show "Grey's Anatomy" is eyeing a comeback in a new show according to USA Today.
According to the Huffington Post, Heigl told Barbara Walters she had a good experience on the show the first go around.
"Oh yeah, sometimes, yeah. You miss it. I miss my friends," she said. "It was a great work environment... and it becomes a family. I spent six years together with these people every day... you grow up together, in a way."
Sources indicate that NBC, and other networks are currently figuring out negotiations for the show USA Today reported
Heigl will star and also be a producer for the show, which will be written by Alexi Hawley USA Today reported.
It's believed the new series will be a drama, and not a medical soap opera, which led to Heigl's fame. The new project is being scripted, and is expected to be released in the 2014-15 season, USA Today reported.
Heigl started with "Grey's Anatomy" in March 2005, leaving at the end of the show's sixth season in Jan. 2010 to focus on her adopted daughter Naleigh and husband Josh Kelley.
During her time with "Grey's", Heigl starred in movies like "Knocked Up" and "27 Dresses."
Heigl approched show producer Shonda Rhimes about making a comeback last year, and reprising her role, but her request was meant with a little apprehension.
"I've told them I want to," Heigl told eonline.com last January. "I don't know... Being a showrunner and being a writer of a TV series like that is so complicated that I mean she's got how many characters are there now? There's a lot and so she's balancing about 40 different storylines, so I don't know if it fits in to their sort of vision for this season or next or however many seasons it goes."
