Amanda Righetti and Owain Yeoman will not be returning to CBS television show "The Mentalist," after this year's sixth season, TVLine reported.
"Mentalist" creator Bruno Heller said the upcoming season for the series, which premieres Sept. 29 at 10 p.m. EST on CBS, is unpredictable.
"I can neither confirm or deny, but this is the most dramatic and game-changing season and anything can happen," Heller said in a statement to TVLine.
Righetti and Yeoman are original cast members of the show.
Yeoman plays the role of Special Agent Wayne Rigsby, an arson specialist, while Righetti portrays special agent Grace Van Pelt.
The actors' departures will fall in line with the series' long-running mystery and unveiling of Red John, according to TVLine.com. Actors for the show anticipate the news will happen before the end of the year.
The event is also expected to change the show's direction and put it on a new path than it's been on the last six years.
"The Mentalist" is one of at least two series on CBS about to experience changes as "NCIS" star Cote de Pablo said she is leaving after completing agent Ziva's story line at the start of season 11.
"We're not bumping off the suspects one by one," said TVGuide Editor Adam Bryant on the scoop section of his website. "Some will meet an unhappy end, others will live to the denouement.
"But whether or not the real Red John ultimately lives to see another day will be a point of much debate between Jane and Lisbon," he said.
