"Arrow" season 4 release date is barely a month away and fans have been teased with a lot about the premiere episode.
There are scoops about Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), Diggle's beef with him, and the new big bad Damien Darhk.
One thing the show is forgetting to share though is the state of Starling City when its own vigilante left. As fans can recall, last season's finale saw the Emerald Archer drove away from the city as a gift to himself and girlfriend Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) after defeating Ra's al Ghul.
The city is not exactly unattended because Diggle (David Ramsey) and Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) were left there to monitor. However, when "Arrow" season 4 release date arrives, don't be shocked to see Starling City in disarray because the other members of the Team Arrow did not do a good job.
"When Season 4 opens the city has declined drastically despite the best efforts of Dig, Speedy and Black Canary," executive producer Wendy Mericle told TV Line.
"And with the arrival of Damien Darhk (Justified's Neal McDonough) on the scene, it's obviously big stakes."
Mericle also reiterated the continuation of conflict between Oliver and Diggle.
"Hence, Oliver and Felicity's return - though not everyone is welcoming back the archer with open arms. Dig is still "frosty" toward his "brother," Mericle says, while Quentin still is not thrilled with the masked vigilantes yet has come to see them "as a necessary evil."
Mericle first talked about the 'unwelcome' reunion between the best buds in an interview with Collider.
"Dig has a huge bone to pick with Oliver when they see each other again, at the top of Season 4," executive producer Wendy Mericle said in an interview with Collider last month.
"We're gonna work that out. It's not gonna be easy. With what happened to Dig's family, it's really tough to buy that back, and Oliver is not gonna to be able to. Obviously, they can't be mad at each other forever, or what are we doing?"
"But also, in the intervening months while Oliver has been gone, Dig has, more or less, been leading the team. It's a little bit more democratic, Speedy and Black Canary are both super bad-ass and kicking butt. He's not happy, when he and Oliver meet again. It's not an open-armed, 'Hey, buddy, all is forgiven,' reunion."
"Arrow" season 4 release date is Oct. 7.
