‘Trainspotting 2’ Is Happening! Danny Boyle Confirms Ewan McGregor And The Boys Will Be Back

| By

It's been almost 20 years since "Trainspotting" has shocked, inspired, entertained, and made an impact on the viewers with their no holds barred language and scenes.

It is one of those movies that people who grew up in the 90s would carry on to their graves - remembering the famous line "Choose Life."

Fans of the cult classic film were thrilled when Danny Boyle revealed that his next project will be a sequel to the movie and the original cast consisting of Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle, Johnny Lee Miller, and Ewen Bremner, will reprise their role.

"All the four main actors want to come back and do it," the director told Deadline. "Now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series," Boyle explained. Miller stars in "Elementary" while Carlyle is part of "Once Upon A Time."

Now that it has been confirmed that "Trainspotting 2" is happening, fans are wondering what the plot of the movie will be.

According to the director, the script was written by John Hodge and it was based on Irvine Welsh's follow up novel "Porno" that was set 10 years later.

However, Robert Carlyle who starred as Begbie in the 1996 film, claims that the sequel was set 20 years later and some parts of the novel will be rewritten because it has much to do with internet porn. The Scottish actor also revealed where his character will be after 20 years.

"Oh, jail. Jail or dead. That's what's interesting. Where are these guys 20 years later? Where are any of us? If this film gets made all the actors are going to be middle-aged - or in my case, at 54, more than middle-aged - as will the audience," he told Shortlist.

Ewan McGregor, who played the main character Mark Renton, also expressed his interest in doing "Trainspotting 2."

"I would be up for it, I've said that to Danny [Boyle]," he told The Scotsman. "Everybody has talked about it and speculated about it, but I don't know if it's happening yet. I've not seen a script and I don't know if there is one."
