A few weeks ago, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were spotted together with their children during his birthday celebration in Disney World.
There were reports that the former couple didn't talk to each other even in the company of their kids.
"They looked so tense and uncomfortable," an insider told PEOPLE. "When she was around him, you could see the tenseness. Her shoulders would rise up."
Just recently, the 43-year-old actress and actor were seen together in Los Angeles going out of a family counseling center.
According to reports, the two haven't been there for months and this is the first time they returned after they announced their divorce.
Despite not wearing their wedding rings, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner seemed to be in good spirits as they stepped out of the center.
"They both seem much happier and relaxed," an insider told PEOPLE. "They spent the past week enjoying the last days of summer and getting the kids prepared to start school again."
The "Daredevil" co-stars were seen smiling and even appeared to be laughing.
"It might seem from the outside that they both gave up on their marriage and stopped receiving counseling together, but that's not who they are," their source revealed. "They both had an insane summer and probably just had to take a break [from counseling]."
According to previous reports, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are trying their best to co-parent their children and if that means getting a couple's therapy, then they will do it.
"They are both smart when it comes to the kids and will work on putting any conflicts or differences aside," their insider said. "They were friends before they fell in love, and want to continue being friends now."
Now that the two are getting along just fine, there were rumors coming out that the former couple is reuniting.
However, that seems not to be happening even if Jen tries to forget about Ben's cheating scandal with their former nanny Christine Ouzounian.
"Jen has really been trying to put all the nanny drama to the side and she is doing well, but there is no way she would ever take Ben back," their source said, "as soon as she took her wedding ring off, she acted like a different person."
