‘Harry Potter’ Star Tom Felton Seeks Jesus Out In New ‘Risen’ Trailer! [WATCH] It Here!

Jesus Christ's life has been retold for thousands of years and the movie industry certainly took liberties in recreating his life, death, and resurrection over the years. However the new "Risen" trailer has a fresh take on the 2000-year-old story.

The epic looks at the resurrection of the Messiah and the supposed "pandemonium" that happened in within the Roman Empire because of it, according to Huffington Post.

Joseph Fiennes stars as Clavius, a Roman soldier who refuses to believe that Jesus is the Son of God. An adamant non-believer, he is tasked by Pontius Pilate to keep an eye on the tomb where the Messiah was buried after his crucifixion but things don't go as planned when it found open and empty three days later.

Before a huge revolt erupts in Jerusalem, Clavius begins the "most important manhunt in history," ComingSoon.net reported, as he looks for Jesus in the weeks following His rise from death. Being a non-believer, Clavius sets out to disprove the rumors that could potentially cause people to rise in rebellion against the Empire.

Will he change his views about the Nazarene after he actually finds Jesus alive and well?

"Harry Potter" star Tom Felton is a fellow soldier whose beliefs slowly alter as he searches for Jesus' missing body in the "Risen" trailer.

The "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes" star hilariously noted the irony of his character's name on Twitter, posting a screenshot of the cast list which shows his name as "Lucius."

As Potterheads know, Felton's father in the highly successful Warner Brothers franchise is, in fact, Lucius Malfoy. Fans also shared their amusement at the irony.

The trailer that Felton shared on the social media site also launched the epic "Harry Potter" pun-filled battle between actor and former co-star, Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom in "Harry Potter").

"Risen" also stars Peter Firth from "Pearl Harbor" and Cliff Curtis from "Fear the Walking Dead."

Directed by Kevin Reynolds, the biblical-themed film will premiere in cinemas on Jan. 22, 2016.
