While fans are excited for a new "Boruto: Naruto The Movie," new reports suggest that the original "Naruto" manga will no longer continue.
Apparently, author/creator Masashi Kishimoto will finally lay the hit manga franchise to rest.
Kishimoto revealed details during the press conference held by Otaku Art. The highly acclaimed author is reportedly going to spend more time with his family, since the manga has already taken over his life, even comparing his son to Naruto's son, Boruto.
"During this time, I finally went on my honeymoon," Kishimoto said. "Even though my son has grown as big as Boruto."
According to Masashi Kishimoto, the last offering he could give his fans is the movie "Boruto: The Naruto The Movie."
Apparently, he grew tired of the manga after dominating for decades.
"After finishing the manga serial [last year], I finally though I could rest," Kishimoto explained, "but I couldn't..."
After years of carefully trying to make a decision, Masashi Kishimoto has finally made up his made as he decides to retire the franchise and "Boruto: Naruto The Movie" is said to be the perfect way for him to end the manga.
"I can't. Please let me rest now. The Boruto film is perfect. I'm just speaking for myself, but I'm enormously satisfied," he said.
Instead, Masashi Kishimoto is said to work on a new sci-fi manga.
Anime News Network reported that Kishimoto has spoken to Kadokawa's Entermix entertainment magazine to provide details of his new manga following "Naruto."
"I've already decided what I'm going to write about in my next work," Kishimoto said. "I'm thinking of writing a science-fiction work. I've already finalized the character designs. I think the protagonist is one that hasn't been seen before in manga, and while it's me saying it, I think that the character is done very well."
While admitting that this new project will completely be different from "Naruto," Masashi Kishimoto explained that he's confident that this too will be a sure hit.
"I want to think once more about the difference between what I want to write and what readers are looking for when reading my works," Kishimoto stated. "I started thinking about this by writing 'Naruto' and various one-shots. 'Naruto' became an unexpected hit, but I want to make my next work a hit as well by actually aiming to do so."
Meanwhile, his new project has yet to be given a release date.
"I don't know when I'll announce my new work, but please wait for my challenge of a work that will surpass Naruto."
