Fans could be treated to a Rick-Michonne pairing, according to spoilers from "The Walking Dead" season 6 show runner Scott Gimple who teased the possibility of Richonne.
"They have done things for each other that's familial or deep, deep, deep friendship. But the way that the speak to each other - for example in [the season five finale] - represents how far these people have come with each other," Gimple told The Hollywood Reporter.
The show runner also recalled how they reached the bedroom in Alexandria where Rick (Andrew Lincoln) told Michonne (Danai Gurira) he had a gun and he would give it to her.
"I think they have an incredibly intimate relationship right now. Where that does, who knows? I think there's something to be said about those two character's journeys right now," Gimple teased.
Back in July, Gurira admitted they get "the Richonne thing" a lot, as Franchise Herald reported. While she liked that fans think Michonne should "get some," the actress went on to say that "Michonne's a nun. She don't give none, she don't get none."
For THR, a Richonne pairing "would make sense given the group's arrival at Alexandria." Then again, Gimple pointed out that in the comics, [spoilers] it's Andrea (Laurie Holden) who develops a relationship with Rick.
But with that character no longer in "The Walking Dead" season 6, the website thinks Jessie (Alexandra Breckenridge) could take over that role.
"In the comics, Andrea is one [of] the closest people to Rick. They eventually become lovers and Andrea is the only one that can really push Rick's buttons," iDigitalTimes said.
Just like Michonne did in the AMC series, it was Andrea who put Rick in his place. That said, the website agreed Jessie could be Rick's love interest but that would "[crush] the Richonne shippers' hopes and dreams."
iDigitalTimes also pointed out, Jessie plays a pivotal role in Rick's story arc in the comic books - spoilers that may upset fans if the show doesn't tackle them.
"The Walking Dead" season 6 returns Oct. 11 on AMC.
