Did Kate Middleton's Brother James’ Business Fail? Did The Duchess Have To Step In Financially?

| By

Following his parent's line of business, Kate Middleton's brother, James, started a unique business venture in 2013.

However, recent reports suggested that he allegedly lost a huge amount of money just a year after launching Boomf.

According to the British newspaper, The Sun (via Daily Mail), the Duchess of Cambridge's brother's marshmallow printing business saw a deficit of £243,986 or almost $390,000 from November 2013 to December 2014.

It reportedly lost that much money even after the Middleton name (and its royal ties) was revealed in January of last year.

Boomf reportedly creates "multi-sensory" marshmallows with customers' Instagram photos printed on the fluffy sweets. It is being sold at less than $30 for a box of nine.

Middleton, in partnership with Mint Digital, later created a mobile version of the business venture in July. Mint Digital chief creative officer Andy Bell reportedly paired up with Middleton to turn a 1950s Pashley's ice cream tricycle into a "Willy-Wonka like machine" that produces the unique marshmallows on the spot.

"Boomf on Demand takes Boomf out of the factory, and lets you create your marshmallows live, in real time," a spokesman for the company reportedly said. "In short, Boomf on Demand lets you eat your face without delay."

The amount may seem huge on paper but Celebrity Laundry reported that Boomf started out with nearly $1,558,000 in capital, putting the company above the red line.

The issue, according to the gossip site, however, is where the capital came from in the first place.

The site suggested that Kate Middleston's brother James might have been helped out financially by royal funds. It even went as far as implying that James, as well as his other sister Pippa, is "sponging off" of their famous sibling's power.

Will Kate Middleton's brother James be able to recover the loss on his own or will he have to ask his famous sister and brother-in-law for help?
