While fans are still very eager to see "Silent Hills" push through and reach gaming consoles, it seems like it's unlikely to happen now.
Supposed director Guillermo del Toro has revealed to IGN that while he still intouch with Hideo Kojima, they are both planning a new project that do not involve "Silent Hills."
"I love working with Kojima-san," he said.
"We are still in touch. We are still friends and working into doing something together, but that's not going to be [Silent Hills]."
He did not however reveal the details on what kind of project they are planning to make, instead del Toro shared their supposed plans had "Silent Hills" pushed through.
"We were in the planning stages, and it's a shame it's not going to happen," del Toro shared. "We were talking about really pushing the boundaries of the new consoles, and making the game really mess with your head. One of the great moments in Metal Gear [Solid] was Psycho Mantis. The idea that a game can actually interact with you, and stuff like that."
Guillermo del Toro has previously told IGN that he is going to support the petition to continue "Silent Hills," but it seemed fans' desire could not change the fact that the game is ultimately cancelled.
"Norman [Reedus, the Walking Dead actor who was attached to play the lead role] was super happy, Hideo was super happy, and so was I," he said of their feelings about the game prior its cancellation.
"I know there's a petition going on the internet and it's gathering signatures. I would add my signature to it, and hope that someone pays attention."
