"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" precinct's new captain is the one who's making fans more excited about season three.
When the second season finale ended, it also saw Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) leave the precinct for another job.
Not much details is being shared about "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 3's new captain except the fact that he will be played by funny man Bill Hader.
Andy Samberg, who plays lead character Jake Peralta, is gracious enough to share new information though. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Samberg said Hader's character Captain Seth Dozerman is exactly the opposite of the man he will replace.
"Captain Dozerman is a severely anal-retentive personality," says Andy Samberg told Entertainment Weekly in a report which also came with a first look photo on Bill Hader's character.
"He is not an obvious fit with the precinct - and Jake in particular - but Jake does his best to acclimate."
Samberg also said Hader is perfect for the role of Brooklyn Nine-Nine's new captain.
"Bill is funny as hell in the role," Samberg continued, "Dozerman is a borderline lunatic, so in a lot of ways he fits in well at the Nine-Nine. It was great to see Bill and work together again. It's basically "Laser Cats" set in the past with a way bigger budget."
Although the new head of the Nine-Nine precinct takes much of the attention, series co-creator Michael Schur said earlier it will not be the main focus of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 3 premier episode. Rejoice Jake and Amy ship supporters, the pilot will deal with their kiss in second season's finale.
"I actually directed the premiere episode and it's very much focused on Jake (Andy Samberg) and Amy (Melissa Fumero) and their nascent relationship," Schur said in an interview with Deadline.
"Dan Goor really runs that show on a day-to-day basis, but he and the writing staff cooked up a lot of really good cliffhangers at the end of last year. Captain Holt was transferred and Jake and Amy had this kind of romantic kiss after having several undercover kisses, the nature of which were a little nebulous."
"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 3 premiere is on Sept. 27.
