Sony's North West Studio, founded to develop new experiences for the tech firm's Project Morpheus PS4 VR headset, may be working on bringing anime to virtual reality.
The UK-based studio put out job ads for an Environment Artist last month on Amiqus and Develop, RocketNews24 reported.
"Opportunity for an experienced Environment Artist to work on a brand new IP for Project Morpheus," the ad reads.
"The company is looking for individuals with skills in water features, rock formation, flora and fauna modelling and, tellingly, experience with Epic Games' Unreal 4 development toolset among other aspects," VR Focus said.
While any artist can apply for the position, the ad specifically mentioned that applicants should have a "stylised folio similar to Studio Ghibli."
For the uninitiated, Studio Ghibli is the renowned Japanese animation studio and maker of such classics as "Spirited Away" and "My Neighbor Totoro."
As VR Focus pointed out, the Tokyo, Japan-based studio has experience working on videogames. Using the Oculus Rift, VR enthusiasts have also created tributes to the company's work.
Conspicuously absent on the ad is which company is looking to hire the artist. But since it lists Liverpool as the position's location, "the popular theory is that the successful candidate will be working for Sony Computer Entertainment's North West Studio," RocketNews24 said.
North West Studio was established last year to work solely on software for Sony's Project Morpheus.
Sony boss Shuhei Yoshida said earlier that the VR headset is designed to work "closely together" with the PS4 gaming console, as Franchise Herald reported. The exec has so far remained tight lipped on details such as pricing and an exact release date saying it's "too early" to talk about such things.
The ad for an Environment Artist could be your best bet at working for a VR title for Sony's Project Morpheus. Better hurry though as applications close on Sept. 7.
