Legendary Pictures was quick to act when former cast members Michael Keaton and JK Simmons decided to leave the "Kong: Skull Island" movie.
Now, reports claim that the giant studio has found new cast to complete the lineup.
Slash Film reported that Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Wilkinson and John C. Reilly are all in talks to star in the prequel of "King Kong" together with Tom Hiddleston in the lead.
Additionally, "Straight Outta Compton" star Corey Hawkins, who is also appearing in the new season of "The Walking Dead" is reportedly in final negotiations as well. Variety has exclusively reported.
Brie Larson, who is supposedly Tom Hiddleston female lead partner has previously been confirmed in the line up.
While the film has yet to begin shooting, former cast JK Simmons has revealed some vital details about the movie.
Apparently, "Kong Skull Island" will tackle the beginnings of King Kong, but it will be set in 1971 in Detroit.
"When it first came to my attention, 'There's interest in you for a new King Kong,' I thought, 'Okay, why?" He said according to Movie Pilot.
"I met with Jordan Vogt-Roberts who's going to be directing it, and John Gatins who's gonna be writing, and Tom [Hiddleston]-Jordan was just so passionate and so smart and there's such an interesting new take on it, and it's set in Detroit in 1971 which is where I grew up, and we're gonna shoot in Detroit during baseball season and I'll be able to go to Tigers games, so there's a lot to like about this movie."
Tom Hiddleston, who remained involved in the film on the other hand, told Red Carpet News TV that he's really excited to tell the story of King Kong in a different perspective.
"Well really it was [director] Jordan Vogt-Roberts has such an extraordinary vision," he said when asked what made him decide to join "Kong: Skull Island" movie.
He continued, "His story which I know he hasn't revealed to anyone yet is 'King Kong' you've never seen before, and it's very ambitious and epic and fresh and new in his vision and design and the characters are amazing. The chance to work with legendary again, who made 'Crimson Peak,' and I love what they did with 'Godzilla,' there are number of things, but it's more of working with Jordan particularly, his idea is amazing and the story and the script and the studio so yeah, it's a very easy yes."
Below is the official synopsis to "Kong: Skull Island" movie:
"In the spirit of its worldwide blockbuster Godzilla, Legendary Pictures presents a bold new take on the mythos of another iconic beast with Kong: Skull Island, which stars Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers and Thor series).
Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) and written by John Gatins (Flight) and Max Borenstein (Godzilla), "Kong: Skull Island" will fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island. Legendary's story honors the foundations of existing King Kong lore, but places it in an entirely new, distinct timeline.
Thomas Tull (Godzilla, The Dark Knight, Pacific Rim) and Jon Jashni (Godzilla, Warcraft) will produce and Alex Garcia (Godzilla) will executive produce. The film will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D by Universal Pictures."
