Virginia Shooting Victims’ Funeral Was Emotional – Cameraman Adam Ward Honored By Teachers, Students From Alma Mater

| By

Adam Ward, one of the Virginia shooting incident victims and cameraman for WDBJ-7, was remembered by his alma mater, Virginia Tech, Salem High School and Troutville Elementary School.

Adam Ward, along with his co-worker, Alison Parker were shot dead on live morning television by their former co-worker Vester Flanagan.

On Monday, former and current students from Virginia Tech attended the reception for Ward, wearing their uniforms in commemoration of Ward and his love for his alma mater.

Even in his casket, Ward was dressed in a white shirt and a Virginia Tech baseball cap.

On Tuesday, Ward will be laid to rest in a cemetery a few miles from the TV station where he worked.

"The way that he has been described as an adult is the way he was as a child," Ward's teacher in Troutville Elementary School, Judy Deel told ABC News. "He was vivacious. He was helpful. He was kind. He was giving. He was respectful. And so it was comforting to me to know that the young child I taught in third grade became the man that he was."

Meanwhile, Salem High Principal Scott Habeeb described Ward as a "family."

"This is not just the loss of a student," Habeeb said. "This is a loss of a family member because he's a Spartan. He's part of us. His father's part of us."

Meamwhile, the Virginia Tech football team is set to wear stickers on their helmets during their season opener game, honoring both Ward and Alison Parker's memories.

Adam Ward and Alison Parker were covering a light-hearted story for the morning WDBJ-7 morning show when former reporter Vester Flanagan murdered both media men live on air and even recording a video of the whole incident and posting it on twitter.

While on the run from the police, Flanagan explained that Parker allegedly made racist comments while Ward allegedly reported him to HR, after working with him once.

Flanagan later on killed himself.
