Barry Allen's Savior In 'The Flash' Season 2 Premiere Episode Is Someone Fans Least Expect

| By

STAR Labs and its personnel are in totally disarray when "The Flash" season 2 premiere airs.

After the chaos and the deaths that happened in first season's finale, the team will have to start over.

The one affected the most of course is Barry Allen (Grant Gustin). In "The Flash" season 2 premiere, the Scarlet Speedster feels guilt for what happened and so he decided, he will operate on his own.

Too bad for him though because Iris West (Candice Patton) won't let him do that. His childhood friend will act like the leader of the team now that Prof. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) is gone.

"Iris slides into [the role] very naturally," says executive producer Andrew Kreisberg according to a report by Entertainment Weekly's Natalie Abrams. "She's a born leader. One of the best things in the premiere is Barry decides that he wants to work alone because he doesn't want to risk anyone else's lives, and Iris is really the one who gets the band back together again. She's the only one who can stand up to Barry."

As for their romance, don't expect anything yet. They are supposed to end up together in the comics but that can wait in the CW Network series as Iris is still recovering from the death of her fiancee Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett).

In this new season, she will be focused more on her job as a journalist.

"She's found her way into S.T.A.R. Labs and she's trying to get her career off the ground at Picture News," Candice Patton said according to "The Flash" season 2 spoiler from TV Line published in July.

"So I, personally, am really hoping to see Iris have more agency and more abilities to help the team and The Flash and the city that she loves so much. I want to see her stand on her own two feet and really contribute to the group."

"The Flash" season 2 premiere is Oct. 6.
