Viewers know him as the sexy werewolf Tyler Lockwood from the hit series "The Vampire Diaries," and Michael Trevino is now up for a more challenging - probably less daring - role: a detective.
Wetpaint reported that the 30-year-old "The Vampire Diaries" actor Michael Trevino is set to appear on stage for a theatrical adaptation of popular detective series "Sherlock Holmes," and will play as Holmes' sidekick Dr. Watson.
If you are familiar with the iconic line, "Elementary, my dear Watson," the person being referred to is the character to be played by "The Vampire Diaries" star Michael Trevino.
The character of Dr. Watson is Sherlock Holmes' associate as depicted on the stories by author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, according to online encyclopedia Britannica.
"The Vampire Diaries" star Michael Trevino left the series along with co-star Nina Dobrev, who played the role of Elena Gilbert.
"Michael [Trevino] has been a beloved member of 'The Vampire Diaries' family since day one," show producer Julie Plec explained in the report on Hollywood Life. "Even though he's going to be out in the world exploring new opportunities, we look forward to finding creative ways to make sure he and his character Tyler Lockwood always remain a part of the show."
The lead role of Sherlock Holmes will reportedly be reprised by David Arquette.
"I am beyond excited to play one of the most loved characters in all literature, stage and screen," David Arquette said in the report on Toronto Star. "Some may think I'm an odd choice. I am. I'm odd, but thankfully, so is he."
Catch "The Vampire Diaries" star Michael Trevino on stage in "Sherlock Holmes" as it opens preview performances prior to its official shows at the Toronto Ed Mirvish Theatre this October. The theatrical show will also be performed in Chicago and Washington, D.C., Wetpaint further noted.
