'Empire' Season 2 Premiere, Spoilers, And More: Prison Will Only Make Lucius More Dangerous

| By

"Empire" season 2 premiere next month will pick up shortly from where it left off in first season's finale. Lucius Lyon (Terrence Howard), the once mighty founder of Empire Entertainment, hit the floor hard.

He is now in prison after being arrested last season and believes it is his former wife Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) who framed him.

While Lucius looks someone to feel pity of when "Empire" season 2 premiere date arrives, do not be fooled because instead of bringing him down, prison only made him more dangerous.

He is making something out of his sentence which he will use once he returns to the free world.

"We can see steam coming out of his ears, but Lucious surprisingly can be a patient man," showrunner Ilene Chaiken said in an interview with TV Line.

"He takes from every situation he's in, and he's getting something from this. Not that he wants to be in prison, not that he's not doing everything he can to get his people to come through for him and get him the hell out of there, but while he's in there, he's going to make something of it."

Although Lucius is being patient, he is getting angrier which will eventually force him to go back to his 'street' roots and go after the people who he thought 'wronged' him.

"What Lucious Lyon does in prison is interesting, and what he takes out of prison makes him more Lucious than ever. It brings him closer to the streets, back to his roots. He's angrier, more ferocious and more powerful than he was before," Chaiken explained.

"Empire" season 2 premiere is on September 23. Other returning casts are Trai Byers, Jussie Smollet, Bryshere Gray and new series regulars Ta'Rhonda Jones and Gabourey Sidibe. New guests stars have also been lined up and they include Marissa Tomei, Adam Rodriguez, Kelly Rowland, Andre Royo, Siya, Zendaya, Becky G, Alicia Keys, Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz, and Mariah Carey.
