Chris Evans will have to look for new "Top Gear" co-presenters after frontrunner Jodie Kidd turns down the role and Suzi Perry commits to another Formula One deal. But a report suggests Zoe Ball could pick up the slack.
"Everyone every day has been asking me, 'am I doing it? Am I doing it?' I am not, okay," Kidd told The Telegraph last week.
Despite being "greatly honoured" that people think she's "good enough" to present the BBC motoring show, the former model said taking on the presenting gig "would be completely all-consuming."
"'Top Gear' is the most brilliant show on this planet but it would just take over our soul. That would be it. Through ups and downs and lefts and rights, I have got an amazing place where everything is finally balanced, and balanced for my family too," the 36-year-old mother-to-one said.
Earlier this month, Franchise Herald reported that "Top Gear" host Chris Evans was spotted in a lunch meeting with Jodie Kidd and Zoe Ball.
Asked if Ball could be in the running for the job, Kidd replied: "Do you know what, it could be."
"The Classic Car Show" host also suggested Scottish racing driver Susie Wolff for the job although F1's Suzi Perry and Natalie Pinkham "are unlikely to do it," according to The Telegraph.
Citing a report by The Sun, The Daily Mirror reported earlier this week that Perry "has signed up to front F1 until the end of next year."
However, the 45-year-old could still make an appearance and "do the odd segment."
Furthermore, Perry revealed that the BBC may forego the familiar three-presenter set-up for "Top Gear" in favor of a "gang of people" as part of its new look.
Evans is said to be keen on signing F1 champ Jenson Button.
So far, Chris Evans is the only confirmed "Top Gear" presenter. The loss of Jodie Kidd and Suzi Perry has reportedly forced the former Radio 1 DJ "back to the drawing board."
