Seven celebrities have so far been officially announced as "Dancing With The Stars" contestants, while others have yet to be named. One of them is reportedly a controversial celebrity chef looking to redeem herself after being criticized for being "racist."
"Bake yourself some butter-based treats to eat while watching the controversial chef twirl her way to redemption," a report on US Weekly said.
The report cited a source confirming that celebrity chef Paula Deen will join as one of "Dancing With The Stars" Season 21 contestants.
In her Food Network profile, Paula Deen is a celebrity chef who owns a restaurant named "The Lady and Sons," which has earned accolades and recognition from critics.
Furthermore, she has also written a series of bestselling cookbooks such as "Southern Style," "The Lady and Sons Savannah Country Cookbook," "Paula Deen and Friends: Living It Up," and more.
However, this celebrity chef has faced criticisms after some racial slurs and comments she previously made, including her reported usage of the "N-word."
In a report on website Page Six, this "Dancing With The Stars" rumored contestant posted a photo of her son in brownface on Twitter, making some netizens express annoyance on the matter.
The photo reportedly showed Paula Deen and son Bobby dressed as the characters Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz from hit sitcom "I Love Lucy."
She reportedly wrote the caption on the tweet, which is now deleted, "Lucyyyyyyy! You got a lot of esplainin' to do."
A few years ago, Paula Deen reportedly used the offensive "N-word" and faced a lawsuit, according to a report on CNN.
So far, the "Dancing With The Stars" celebrity contestants officially announced include Nick Carter, Chaka Khan, Victor Espinoza, Hayes Grier, Bindi Irwin, Alexa Penavega and Carlos Penavega. The remaining contestants and professional dancing partners will be announced on September 2.
