"Empire" season 2 spoilers in the last few months were more about who the new guest stars will be.
The show welcomed a lot of big stars in the first season and in its return, they upped the ante by adding elite names from music and industry. So far, there are at least 10 confirmed guest stars expected to grace the Fox musical drama.
Although "Empire" season 2 spoilers concerning guests stars excite some fans, others are worried because the focus might be taken away from the Lyon family.
Showrunner Ilene Chaiken assures that will not happen. She is positive "Empire" will still be about Lucius (Terrence Howard) and Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) and their family.
"Don't worry about the guest casting, because Empire is about the Lyon family and they're always going to be the more important thing," she said in an interview with TV Line.
"Our rule for ourselves, even though all of these fabulous people are being presented to us on these lovely silver platters, is that we're going to tell our stories, and if [guest stars] fit into our stories, fantastic. "So-and-so wants to be on Empire, and we've got this story, and she would be great as this character." Every once in a while, we might spend a bit of time figuring out what we can do with a certain person who really wants to be on the show, but if it doesn't fit, we don't do it."
Chaiken also teased who among "Empire" season 2 guest stars/new cast members will have significant impact on old characters and the story.
"Marisa Tomei is a perfect example. That was a story we were telling, and the first script was already written, and the character was already developed when we cast Marisa. Of course Marisa is a very, very big get, and she's so good, but it's entirely driven by story."
"Empire" season 2 spoilers revealed there will be a time jump. The second season will also be more like a war of kingdoms with members of the family divided now.
"Empire" season 2 release date is September 23.
