A Brooklyn gospel singer filed a lawsuit against McDonald's after she says she got a piece of glass bigger than a penny while eating a chicken sandwich at a lower Manhattan McDonald's and it ruined her voice.
"Now when I sing, I have a hoarse, rattly voice," said Jacqueline Simpson, 52, who yesterday filed suit in Brooklyn Supreme Court. "I still sing alto, but I can't sing soprano like I used to."
According to the New York Post Simpson, who is a Law Department Document specialist with the Attorney General's office in New York, maintains that the glass was 'bigger than a penny.'
She says she bit into the glass at a Broadway McDonald's near the World Trade Center in May 2010.
"I have to make a lot of calls for work, and I have to tell people that I'm not a man,'' said Simpson, a clerk for the state Attorney General's Office. "Before, that never happened."
Outside of her role as a clerk Simpson sang gospel in Brooklyn - a hobby that has taken a toll since her accident.
Simpson told the Post that her new voice has dramatically altered the octave range she can attain.
"Now when I sing, I have a hoarse, rattly voice," Simpson said. "I still sing alto, but I can't sing soprano like I used to."
"I have to make a lot of calls for work, and I have to tell people that I'm not a man,'' she added. "Before, that never happened."
