Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson made headlines last week for the wrong reasons, no thanks to his claim that he is the Lebron James of American football.
This claim of the 30-year old NFL star was met with negative comments from the fans of the sport and Lebron James who in the NBA is called "King James."
Some even think Peterson is being arrogant.
Adrian Peterson's Lebron James comments were put in bad light but the American football player is clearing things up. He said he is not trying to brag. Instead, he is comparing himself to the NBA superstar because they are both athletic.
"When I look at LeBron James, I think about just his athletic ability, God-given talent -- fast, explosive, just the strength that he has, just all the intangibles," Peterson said. "I feel like the same sense, just in a different sport."
"God has blessed me with those same qualities," Peterson said. "So you make that type of comparison in all fun and games."
Adrian Peterson also rued social media comments regarding his infamous "I'm Lebron James of football" statement.
"It's so funny. You go on social media and hear people saying, 'I can't believe he compared himself to James. King James of football.' It's just like so ridiculous," Peterson said. "It's just casual conversation that people have, not that big of a deal.
"I'm Adrian Peterson. But when you make that comparison and think about those things that I named out, I think that we're similar."
Adrian Peterson's 'I'm Lebron James of Football' comments came when former Vikings linebacker Ben Leber interviewed Peterson right after the team's 20-12 pre-season victory over Oakland Raiders a few days ago.
Lever brought up Kansas City Chief's Jamaal Charles self proclamation that he is Lebron James to which Peterson interrupted and say "I'm the LeBron."
"I can't knock Jamaal; he's a good friend of mine. But the one thing I always tell people is, 'If you don't think that you're the best, how will you ever become the best?' So I can't knock him, but I definitely have to say I'm the LeBron James.''
