Raising funds for a cause is a good thing, but when it's done in a unsavoury manner, it loses its value.
A recent viral video revealed that a Philadelphia cop's extortion deal involved forcing an unregistered car's driver to buy tickets for a fundraiser or else have his car impounded.
According to the New York Daily News, Officer Matthew Zagursky pulled an unregistered car over, bullied the owner into buying the tickets and even threw a homophobic slur at him for having pink windshield wipers last Thursday.
"Either you buy these or I take your car, 'cause it's unregistered," the cop told the driver in the video, as he held out a few tickets to the "Hero Thrill Show," a yearly fundraiser for the families of fallen police officers and fire fighters.
The driver later gave him $30 - the tickets were worth $10 each - to avoid getting his car impounded.
The Philadelphia cop didn't stop at extortion either. After getting the payment, he then proceeded to insult the car's pink windshield wipers, which the unidentified driver said he got to honor his grandmother's fight against breast cancer.
"Breast cancer, I can understand. But can't you support breast cancer in another way? You look like a fruitcake," Zagursky told him.
NBC Philadelphia reported that Zagursky was pulled from street duty following the clip going viral and catching the attention of the Internal Affairs Bureau.
He was reportedly relegated to administrative duty while the IA investigates the said Philadelphia cop extortion video.
Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey couldn't even justify Zagursky's action after watching the said clip.
"It's just stupid," he said after viewing the damning evidence. "It's just not good at all. There's nothing about the stop that's good. Period."
The officer reportedly hasn't been charged with a crime, according to NBC Phildelphia.
