Stylist, fashion guru and "Steampunk'd" show host Jeannie Mai is up for something new this time - to encourage designers to create the best fashion pieces inspired by the Victoria-era style, mixed with science fiction.
If you imagine statement pieces such as compass, wind vanes, turbines and more to go along with the dresses, you are right. "Steampunk'd" show hosted by Jeannie Mai is bringing back the style that pays tribute to the glorious days of the Victorian era.

"What 'Steampunk'd' is, imagine a style and aesthetic that [are] inspired by the Victorian era mixed with science fiction," show host Jeannie Mai told OK! TV. "But the best part about it is, it's all hand-made or crafted or designed in some way."
The designers' war room is altogether different, with tools that are beyond the sewing machine. "Steampunk'd" show viewers - including Jeannie Mai - will see hammers, mallets, welding machines and metals inside the work area, something not seen in couture fashion houses.
"Inspired by 19th century industrial steam-powered machinery, 'Steampunk' is retro-futuristic design movement seen in everything from fashion, to technology, to pop culture," the official website of the TV show said.
With the pilot episode airing last August 19, the "Steampunk'd" show with Jeannie Mai is featuring ten designers in the competition, each poised to win the $100,000 prize by the end of the show, the website added.

"Every week, these ten contestants are in separate teams to compete. Every week one person is eliminated, the last person standing has a chance to win $100,000 and named the top maker of the year," Jeannie Mai further explained.
One of the judges, Kate Lambert who is a British entrepreneur and founder of the world's first steampunk fashion company, told Monsters and Critics what it takes to become the next top maker.
"It takes on many forms and styles and you can have a lot of fun with the fashion. Everyone has their own unique spin, and my current personal key points are Victorian basics (bloomers, corsets, tail coats, etc) with post-apocalyptic hardware on top and perhaps a sci-fi gadget or two (but never three!)," Kate Lambert said.
The "Steampunk'd" show is hosted by Jeannie Mai, with judges Kate Lambert, Matt King and Thomas Willeford.
