"Agents of SHIELD's" Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) are set to star in the pilot of their own show titled, "Marvel's Most Wanted."
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the network issued a pilot order for the show starring both characters.
According to the website's sources, "it's too soon to determine how - if - the potential new series would be launched as a backdoor pilot in the upcoming third season of ['Agents of SHIELD']."
Fans may recall that the then rumored "Agents of SHIELD" spinoff was being groomed for last pilot season but the project has stalled since then.
"We absolutely love those characters on SHIELD. We thought the right thing now is to leave them on SHIELD, because SHIELD is so strong at the moment," ABC Entertainment president Paul Lee said, as reported by Entertainment Weekly back in May.
As it stands, "Marvel's Most Wanted" isn't an "Agents of SHIELD" spinoff as "Marvel and ABC have instead picked up a pilot for what's being described as a new take that focuses on the same duo and their continuing adventures," THR said.
The Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood starrer will reportedly have the same creative team as "SHIELD" with producers Paul Zbyszewski and Jeffrey Bell co-writing the pilot, according to Variety.
Both characters were first seen in "SHIELD" season two where they worked for Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg). Hunter was a mercenary recruited by Coulson while Morse was later revealed as a mole for "the real SHIELD" headed by Agent Gonzalez (Edward James Olmos).
Apart from saying that "Most Wanted" will follow Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood's characters, not much has been revealed about the potential ABC series.
"If we were asked to speculate based just on the title, we'd guess that the two agents will be hunting down rogue super-powered individuals, but who knows? Maybe they're the most wanted for reasons yet to be revealed," Geek.com said.
If green lit, "Marvel's Most Wanted" will join "Agent Carter" and "Agents of SHIELD" on ABC.
