Some of the first six "Masters of Sex" season 3 episodes featured veteran television and movie actors as guest stars. There is Josh Charles from "The Good Wife," Isabelle Fuhrman from "Orphan" and "The Hunger Games," and more.
Although these actors are stars in their own rights, they are probably not as compelling as Playboy founder Hugh Hefner.
Series creator Michelle Asford revealed to Indie Wire the American businessman and actor almost made it to one of the latest "Masters of Sex" season 3 episodes.
Hugh Hefner's name came up after entertainment website asked what is expected in show's fourth season.
"Well, I don't know. What do you have planned? You probably have more ideas. There are some very, very, cool things coming up. The more famous they become and the more public they are, they get into some really interesting stuff. They work very closely with Hugh Hefner," Ashford told Indie Wire.
"He made a little cameo, almost, in this season. We just threaded it in there, that they had this contact with him, but they ended up working with him a lot, so Hugh Hefner will be around in a big way."
Ashford Bill Masters (Michael Sheen) and Virginia Johnson (Lizzy Caplan) could end up in of the rooms in Playboy Mansion and do 'some things.'
There are still six "Masters of Sex" season 3 episodes left and Showtime drama is already busy finding new cast members for its fourth run. For Hugh Hefner, they already found the right actor.
"I think we got our Hugh. [John Gleeson Connolly], a lovely actor, who we had just for this cameo. He is strikingly similar to Hefner," she said.
The next "Masters of Sex" season 3 episode is titled "Monkey Business". Read the episode guide below:
