Will Whiterose Re-Appear? Esmail Shares Details On 'Mr. Robot Episode 8' Scene-Stealer

| By

Whiterose, the head of the hacker group Dark Army that Fsociety is trying to work with, appeared in "Mr. Robot" episode 8 titled "eps1.7_wh1ter0se.m4v".

The one whole hour of the USA Network TV series was named after this new character but she was seen in just one sequence, three minutes to be specific. Despite that, her intimidating presence already had audience hooked, instantly branding her as one of show's most compelling character.

Will Whiterose appear in the next and last "Mr. Robot" episode of first season?

Series creator Sam Esmail neither denied nor confirmed the re-appearance of B. D. Wong's character according to a report by Buzzfeed's Ariana Lange. There was also a suggestion that maybe she does not really exist.

"It's unclear whether Whiterose will return in a later episode, but Esmail gave a "strong suggestion/hint" that the audience should watch all the way through the credits in the Aug. 26 season finale. Suggestion/hint notwithstanding, Whiterose has already chipped away at Elliot's assumptions, much like the other female characters around him. Elliot's (Rami Malek) attempts to save damsels in distress backfire, sometimes with dire consequences - when he unsuccessfully speaks up for his friend Angela (Portia Doubleday) at work, he alienates her; his attempt to save his girlfriend Shayla (Frankie Shaw) from sexual violence over her protestations results, ultimately, in her death."

Although Esmail's response whether Whiterose will be seen again in final "Mr. Robot" episode, he did share interesting details regarding the gender of the new character and its importance in the show's story arc.

"Identity is a huge theme in our show," Esmail said.

"We have these disparate identities, and the reality of who we are is ever shifting." Whiterose fits into this theme because "she clearly was born a man, but she identifies as the exact opposite, and she makes that very bold decision to show that. Again, without getting into spoilers, I think this kind of hits our theme on the head right there."

The final "Mr. Robot episode will air on Aug. 26.
