Bestselling author JK Rowling is well-known for engaging in conversations with fans on social media. She recently talked to her followers on Twitter and revealed which particular "Harry Potter" fan theory floating around she wholeheartedly approves of!
Last Friday, the fan asked Rowling about her "favourite fan theory" and the scribe promptly answered her without hesitation.
"Dumbledore as death. It's a beautiful theory and it fits," she replied.
According to TIME, the theory is derived from "The Tale Of The Three Brothers" which talks about three siblings who all received rewards for "cheating" Death. The brothers who foolishly asked for the powerful Elder Wand and the Resurrection Stone were eventually claimed by Death.
On the other hand, the youngest, who asked for the Cloak of Invisibility, was able to hide from him for a very long time. When he had lived a good life, he finally shed the cloak and met Death as an old friend.
The "Harry Potter" fan theory that JK Rowling pointed out in her tweet not only talks about Albus Dumbledore as Death. It also claims that the three brothers were actually Voldemort, Severus Snape and Harry Potter, himself.
Voldemort, who craved power and immortality, was allegedly the eldest brother. Both of them thought that owning the unbeatable Elder Wand would make him impregnable to anything and anyone. Their pride and greed became their own undoing.
Severus Snape, who loved Harry's mother Lily until his very last breath, is supposedly the middle brother who hoped to be reunited with her dead beloved using the Resurrection Stone. He may not have used the stone himself but he did sacrifice himself for Lily or Lily's son.
Lastly, the wise youngest brother is seen as Harry himself. He quite literally unclothed himself of the Cloak of Invisibility when he approached Voldemort to meet his own demise.
Later on, Harry woke up in what seems to be King's Cross and chats with Dumbledore, whom he meets "like an old friend" just like the youngest brother's reunion with Death.
